Little Richard grew up in Macon, GA. He was a singer, songwriter & musician who scored multiple hits from the 1950's-1960's. In 1955 "Tuitti Fruitti" became a number one single. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.

The Pips (Gladys Knight)

The Pips was a soul R & B group from Atlanta, GA formed in 1952 with members Gladys Knight, Merald "Bubba" Knight, Brenda Knight, Eleanor Guest and William Guest. The group was signed to Brunswick Records in 1957. Brenda Knight and Eleanor Guest left the group and Edward Patten and Langston George replaced them in 1959. In 1961 the group scored their first hit, "Every Beat of My Heart". After their hit, they changed their name to Gladys Knight and the Pips. Langston left in 1961 and Gladys left to start a family and returned in 1964 until the group broke up in 1989. In 1966 they signed with Motown Records where multiple hits would follow.

Francine Reed

Francine Reed from Atlanta, GA is a blues singer. She demonstrated her musical prowess as a solo artist with several albums of her own after arriving in Atlanta. Her first solo album, I Want You to Love Me (1995), featured a duet with Lovett. The album peaked at number seven on Billboard’s blues chart and prompted the first of several W. C. Handy Award nominations for Reed. Reed’s second album, Can’t Make It on My Own (1996), features a duet with Delbert McClinton, and her third record, Shades of Blue (1999), met with critical acclaim. She also recorded with Willie Nelson and Roy Orbison.

Clarence Reid was a soul R & B singer, songwriter and producer grew up in Cochran, GA. His first song "Nobody But You" peaked at #7 on the Billboard R & B chart August 1969. "Funky Party" peaked at #17 August 1974 and "Good Ole Days" peaked at #38 February 1972. Reid co-wrote and produced Betty Wright's smash hit "Clean Up Woman" which peaked at #2 on the Billboard R & B chart in 1972 selling over 2 million copies. He also wrote songs for Gwen McRae, Sam & Dave and Wilson Picket and helped shape the sound for KC and the Sunshine Band.

He became a member for two years of the Harry James Big Band. During that time, Rosen met Sammy Davis, Jr who helped hm land other work with music artists -  Sammy Davis, Jr. at the Cocoanut Grove, recorded in 1963, a series of 1962 live recordings at the New Villa Venice club in Chicago backing Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. (The Rat Pak).

Marv Tarplin from Atlanta, Ga was a soul music guitarist and songwriter who wrote several songs for The Miracles from the 1950's - 1970's, including the million selling hit "The Tracks of My Tears".
